Deep in the enchanted woods surrounding Faerykin Castle lives a curious, goofy, and endlessly loveable creature: Squatch, the castle’s resident Sasquatch! While he may not live inside the castle walls full-time, Squatch is a frequent, and always entertaining, visitor who adds a wild, woodsy flavor to this magical puppet-filled world.
Known for his unusual appetite, his playful personality, and his occasional visits with his towering dad, Papa Squatch, this fuzzy forest friend has quickly become a fan favorite in the Faerykin Castle cast. Whether he’s popping in to say hello or bringing bugs to a tea party (ew!), Squatch reminds viewers that being different is something to celebrate.
Who is Squatch?
Squatch is a young Bigfoot with a heart as big as his feet! Squatch is a forest-dwelling cryptid who gets very bored living alone among the trees. So, when cabin fever strikes, or when he hears music drifting from the castle, he tromps down the trail to pay his Faerykin friends a visit.
Although he’s a mythical creature by nature, there’s nothing scary about Squatch. He’s silly, energetic, and full of enthusiasm. He loves playing games, exploring the castle’s hidden rooms, and…eating bugs. Yes, bugs. Whether it’s beetles, fireflies, or centipedes, Squatch can’t get enough of the crunchy stuff, much to the absolute horror of his fairy-winged friends.
But even with his strange snacks and big, muddy footprints, Squatch is welcomed with open arms every time he visits Faerykin Castle.
A Wild Card with a Warm Heart
Squatch isn’t just a source of comic relief. He represents curiosity, inclusion, and the joy of being unapologetically yourself. His excitement is contagious. He often bursts through the castle doors mid-episode shouting, “I smell crickets… or is it cookies?” and immediately throws himself into whatever activity is happening, usually in the most chaotic way possible.
In one episode, Squatch tries to help with the castle’s tidy-up day. Unfortunately, his idea of cleaning is burying everything under moss and sticks. While the Faerykins are horrified at first, they quickly realize Squatch’s “forest feng shui” has a certain charm, and a whole lot of mushrooms.
The residents of Faerykin Castle help Squatch refine his social skills while always accepting him for who he is. His friendships with characters like Bramble Faerykin and Mothboy are especially heartwarming, with the trio often forming the castle’s “mischief crew.”
The Bug-Eating Quirk
Let’s talk about it—the bugs. Squatch’s favorite snacks aren’t exactly castle-approved. He’s been known to sneak bugs into baked goods, turn a butterfly habitat into an all-you-can-eat buffet, and interrupt picnics by sniffing out ant trails.
While the other characters often shriek or groan in response, it’s all in good fun. His insect indulgence serves as a running joke that never gets old and helps young viewers embrace the idea that friends can have very different tastes and still love each other.
Enter Papa Squatch
Squatch’s father, Papa Squatch, occasionally makes cameo appearances, and when he does, the castle shakes! Towering at over 7 feet tall, Papa Squatch is a gentle giant who speaks in low rumbles and smells strongly of pine sap. While Papa is more reserved than his son, he’s clearly proud of Squatch’s friendships and growth.
Papa Squatch’s visits give viewers a chance to explore themes like family, tradition, and learning how to bridge generational differences. It also gives us some hilarious father-son bonding moments like the time they tried to build a log sofa in the ballroom and ended up breaking through the floor.
Why Kids Love Squatch
Squatch appeals to kids because he’s playful, unpredictable, and a little messy, just like them! He teaches viewers that it’s okay to be loud, curious, and even a little weird. Parents appreciate that despite his quirks, Squatch consistently models emotional growth, listening skills, and the importance of saying sorry when his antics go too far.
His bug-loving habit also opens up fun conversations about nature, ecosystems, and respecting living creatures…yes, even the creepy-crawlies.
